ECONOMY: Heavily depended of jumm farming , which is a slash and burn agricultural tecniques.Banggdarban produces little that is of economic value outside sef consumption of the hill people .Also known as jumaia.fruits (banana,pineaple,,jackfruit,papya)masah(ginger,turmeric) and tribal textile are the major exports of the district, with tourism .There main source of income Agriculture 61.95%,non agricultural labourer 7%,industry0.48%,commerce 9.92% transport and communication,1.11%,contraction 1.08%,religious service 0.26%,service 4.12% rent and renmitance 0.37% and others 9.71%.bamboo and tobacco grow in significant quantity but largely is not considered as economically profitable products.bamboo is used ,along with cases, not just a make yhe traditional still houses ut is the meterial or most tribal craft,including the Banboo smoking pipe,a major health hazared, some bamboo craft and locall made cigarillos are now out of the district.
DRESS: Both the Bandorban bazar and the marma bazar sell.hawk and peddle an incedible number of floral patterned Burmess clothes that are used to make dresses in Marma style.A thicket a tailoring shops.line the stress of both market to cater to byers of these cloths.It is a funactivity for women to buy women to buy cloth and take it to a tailoring shop .custom fit Thami (sarong) and Angi (blouse) are tailoed in a day.
FOOD: mundi is traditional mama ethnic food in bandarban is gaining popularity.Rice is the main ingredence of this spicy and sour dish.At least 30 mundi house in this district .First the rice is soaked in water for one to two weeks,then it is ground ''After that the dough made by adding hot water to the ground rice.The noodles are there pre pared using a specials type machine from small balls made with the dough .The local tribies people consider almost everything that walks,flies or swims as food.so with a little luch it is possile to sample dog meet and even dried snakes or dear meat (both ae ptotected spicy in bangladesh )Nappi ,a semi dried fish paste with powerful fllavor,is one of the top delicacies .Most of the hotelsin banarban do not have any resturant attached .Bamboo shoots is another famous food.it is not only popular food iteam amoong the hill people of the Chattagram.Hill tracts but have also become a favourite item of Bangladeshi residents and tourists there .Bamboo shoots locally known as Bonshkurul .Bamboo shoots can be prepared in different way.''Bamboo shoots taste good when cooked with meet, Ethnic minorities like to cook it with crab or nappi.an anoher hand tourist like to eat it witk dry shrimp''

Drink: Though there are no designated bars or pubs,alcholic drinks are widely available due to the culture of the tribes people.A local rice wine called Arraa is a potennt drink.It is often flovered with stone apples,pineapples and elachiIt is just drunk with with coconut juice.Ching Rey is a beer made from the first brew of Arraa .Tea is a fairly common drink in the daytime and available at plentiful hot tea shops.Tea here is served with their milk and salt instead of suger.There is no nightlife but if you saty outside the town it may be possible to sit at a gathering to tribal village fold for a little music and lot of drinking.
Celebation: MAHA PINDDAN a traditional festival of the Buddhist comunity of the Chattagram hill tracts ,was held this morning with much entthusiasm "MAHA PINDDAAN"is a festival where various iteam are donated to the monks, about three hundred Buddhist monks from different monasteries of Bandarban partiicipated in this festival.Buddhist man and women distributed cash ,fruits, clothes soft drinks and various kind of food to the monks.It organized by ''Kathin chibor dan''(new robes for monk)to the monks.
Baisabi is such a traditional festival where from all walk of life join ,leaving the partiton of race ,religion , castle, people from hills and plain land are in the traditional festival to celebrate bangla new year colourfully.Basically it is called the program of the hill tracts including, Tripura, Chakma , Marma celebrate the festival an important program in their culture .Tripuras called the festival as Boisubb ,Marmas as Sangrai ND chakmas as Biju and the first 2/3 words of all the three names from the word ''BAISABI''.
Another important matter d-chuani(a kind of special drinks) is taken with pajon.any marrige cremony incomplete without the drink in chakma socity.
The marmas celebrate the Bangla new year a holidaay of "Sangrai water festival" .where the young boys and girls sprinkle water on each other .Centuring the festival .the other indigenous peopole of hill tacts fly various type of colourful kites.Besides,the other religious programmes go on side by side BOISABI FESTIVAL. All type of decrepitude will fade away through these traditional programes .Sangri festival is celebrated in Bandarban through diffrent programes to welcome the first day of bangla new year and say goodby to the outgoing year.
PROBARONA PURNIMA is one of the grand religious festivals of the Buddhist Comunity started with due stemnity and farvour in Bandaban .In observance with varous religious rituals, the Probarona Purnima festival will be Concluded with the immersion of the Ratha in the Sangu river at the midnight of monday .In obsevace of the festivities of the Probarona Purnima ,traditional colourful sky lanters(fanush) were released in the sky.Rath yatra was held was held and a cultural function was organized at the Rajar Math(King's play ground) of Bandanban in saturday evening.
PANGCHOWAI(flower sangri) Absolutely one night of '' Paanchowal'' is used for worshiping Buddha and decoration house Although there are many flowers in the mountains,certain flowers are used to decorate the houses.The most popular of these is the cloud colourred flower called "sangri paing".Everyone mainly decorates their houses on the day after '' PAANVHHOAI'' with this flower as the main thing.
